Week # 8
(b) given the combination of rising costs of weddings and the decreased stigma of cohabitation and pre-marital sex, do you think that marriage has become more of an luxury, or an option, than a required passage to adulthood??
I believe that marriage has lost its excitement over the years. I mean it is not a requirement in order to have relations or be with the one you love. You can do as you please. You can live with a man or women and not be married, cohabiting, or have a common-law marriage. You can just be living with a boyfriend or girlfriend that you enjoy being with.
Getting married has gotten too expensive. I mean there are ways to get around an expensive marriage. I mean unless you want a big one of course. The bigger the ceremony and reception the more expensive it gets. The smaller the ceremony and reception if you choose to have one the cheaper it is. I had a cheap wedding, all I had to pay for was my dress the pastor, and the wedding license. The total I paid on my wedding was two hundred dollars. I did not have a reception. My reception was my husband, a few friends, and I went to Red Lobster for dinner and our friends split the bill. It was a short but sweet ceremony. Just the way I like it. I mean every women has her dreams no matter how much it cost they will get what they want.

week 7!!!
(a) Your college roommate or close friend is seriously considering cohabiting with her/his partner and has come to you for advice. What major issues would you discuss with her/him?? Discuss the current demographic trends and characteristics of cohabitation as well as the advantages and disadvantages of cohabitation as discussed in assigned reading.
Some of the current demographic trends on page 228, chapter 7 of cohabitation have increased over the years with not only the opposite sex but the same sex as well. In 2000 some statistics was nine unmarried couples. Also for most people mainly among younger adults, cohabitation it has become a longer process of courtship. This has affected the attitudes of high school seniors.
I would tell my roommate that it is a great idea for him/ her to move in with her partner. I think you never know the real person until you have lived with them for an extended amount of time. I mean you may find things that you do or do not like about that person. You may also have to get used to each others routines. Everyone has different ways of doing things and this could help get organized together.

Week Six!!!
(a.) Go to the following website and check out the information on talking about sex with your kids. How does the advice given on this website compare to how you learned about sex?? How does the way that a person talks about sex to her/his children communicate attitudes about sex?? How does it communicate attitudes about sex in the culture??
I believe the technique only works for some families. My family was very open about the subject. We would all sit around the dinner table during dinner and talk about it all the time. It felt as if it became a ritual. That may be the reason why my brother, sister, and I never brought or boyfriends or girlfriends around. The friends we did bring over for dinner we had to warn them to make sure that they felt comfortable about the matter.
It depends on how they feel about sex and how clear the parent makes it. Such as if a parent is calm and rational but as soon as the child asks a question about sex they flip out the child may become scared to talk to there parents about it. But if a parent does not speak to there child about sex at all maybe there child grows up and does not think anything is wrong or anything will happen if they have sex. There are many ways to look at it. Different cultures and religions have different feelings about sex. Some cultures and religions do not think it is moral to have sex until they are married or have sex at all. Everyone learns about sex a different way. Everyone teaches sex a different way as well. Techniques of the matter are a persons choice and they should choose how to confront the issue before, during, and after, just to check and make sure nothing bad has happened to there child.

week five
My parents Meet at the Truckee Recreational park on the 4th of July, 30 years ago, at a barbque. It was not love at first sight. They were with a group a friends (not together) the two groups ran into one another and the guys asked the girls out on a date.(Never meet before that.) After they hung out for the rest of the day. For the most part they have common goals and common interest they are mostly family orriented.
When I was looking for a partner I was looking for; looks, personality, characteristics, how much we had in common, family life, how he was brought up, what he wanted out of life, what he wanted out of marriage, honesty, goals we had in common, and anything that would bring us closer in a relationship. I have shifted in what I wanted because when I was younger I was not looking for a partner for life. I was just looking for a partner for a short period of time. It was just someone to be with and to experiance things with. It helped me narrow down my expectations for my future husband. I found out what I liked and I did not like. What I wanted and what I did not want.

week four
I believe the valentines day is just another holiday to get people to spend money on one another. My husband and I do not have any traditions for valentines day we have tried to get a romantic night out or in but something always pops up like work or a deployment. Yes, I remember valentines day in elementry school. Thoose were the good old days. I mean during that day we wold have a party and exchange valentines presents.
I do think it is good practice for children. Even though, I believe the time that counts to get valentines is all through your life, because if you stop others will stop caring as well. I believe practice teaches us about love by showing others you care and other people care for you as well. It is not just about acceptence but showing people your true feelings whether it just be a friend, lover, mom, dad, or sibling its the thought that counts. I
I mean it is a great feeling when one day out of the whole year comes around and you can express your true feelings without being judged. I do not feel any pressure on this holiday because I know the people around me on the day know how I care about them, because I express it to them everyday. It is not like when I was back in high school and the coolest person got the most valentines presents. I like when you grow up!!!!

Gender
There are many toys in the world today that can be versatile to both “female” and “male”. I mean there are certain ways to play with other genders toys. For example: say you are playing with your younger brother with JI Joe and you have your Barbie dolls. There is roll playing going on. If a little boy does not have a sibling to role play with toys he is stuck doing it himself. Once you get older there are things to keep separately such as sports. For example: football and cheerleading. But other then that both genders in a certain degree can do whatever there mind takes them.
With house work and raising children it should be an equal task. So it teaches your children there is no right or wrong thing a man or women can or cannot do. Teach them that what ever they want to do they can do it. You should not hold them back in any way. I mean otherwise you may be teaching your children the wrong thing. The world is evolving and it should evolve in a good way, not back to when the men are greater then women. (Or so they thought.) The women can do whatever a man can do such as; go to war, shoot a gun, work, manage workers, and many other things.
It is a good thing that women are finally getting noticed for all the things we can do. I still believe there are some men that need a reality check but it will happen when a woman becomes president or they have a women boss. There are something’s that have changed the transsexuals, hermaphrodites, can now have surgery to fix there appearance to what they want thanks to plastic surgery.
What I consider “female” is feminine, sweet, polite, well mannered, care giver, loving, organized, creative, politically educated, compulsive, sensitive, independent, assertive, competitive, and educated. What I consider “male” is pig like, masculine, hairy, loves alcohol, manly, strong, educated, macho, authoritive, self discipline, think of themselves as a leader, athletic, creative, and horney. My view of gender has changed due to the fact the world is changing due to the fact the world is changing. I have also experienced the military and it helped me understand and appreciate a lot of things I did not when I was younger. I do not have a problem with today’s view on gender because it is becoming more equal then what it was.
